Warehouse Mezzanine floor

As your business grows so does the need for extra floor space. Whether it is space to store stock or space for more desks, clients who are warehouse based can solve this problem by utilizing the space above them. Most warehouses have a roof height ranging from fives metres to 12 metres and subsequently this space is wasted. Our warehouse mezzanine floor utilizes this space effectively and saves you money in the long run. There’s no need to move to bigger premises with bigger rent… A once off cost to build your mezzanine will result in it paying for itself. What would you pay for a 100m2 warehouse per month? Perhaps R20k per month. A 100m2 mezzanine does not cost more than R200k and therefore it is paid for in the first year. Contact us for a free quote

Warehouse mezzanine floor construction

Made from a combination of steel and timber this type of mezzanine floor is our most common. The main supporting structure is steel. We use square tube columns with i-beams or universal bearer beams and lip channel joists. The timber deck is either pine shutter-ply decking or pine tongue in groove decking. However, shutter-ply is most economical and we use this on 90% of our projects. The entire staircase is steel with checker plate treads. Our standard galvanized industrial hand and knee rail completes the mezzanine floor.

Variations to this steel and timber mezzanine floor design include H beams which are substituted for square columns. Made of thicker steel, H beams are a better choice in an area where vehicles need to pass through as they handle a bump better than the hollow square columns. Steel safety barriers are provided to mitigate the chance of damages should a car bump the structure. We weld the main bearer beams if the span is very long. The joists are i-beams or lip channels depending on the span and carrying capacity. Saplings is one of our trusted shutter-ply suppliers
